I’m Max from theSeoulGuys. I’d like to give a quick introduction about myself and talk about the future of the blog.

I’m Max. I live in Seoul. If I were to describe myself in one word, it would be “chaos.” And I am someone who is creating order within that chaos.

I served as a firefighter in the military, where I injured my leg. As a result, I underwent major surgery to replace one of my leg joints with an artificial one. I’ve been working in the public finance sector for over 10 years, but I’ve suffered greatly from workplace bullying, particularly from a malevolent superior and the culture in general, to the point where I’m receiving psychological counseling and psychiatric treatment. Additionally, I’ve lost most of my assets due to a major investment failure.

Looking back, my life seems to be a series of failures, like sinking into an abyss. Despite my best efforts, it felt like I was sinking deeper into a quagmire. However, I have good friends who support and worry about me. With the help of many people, I am overcoming difficulties one by one.

Personally, I have a lot of curiosity and I enjoy drawing, music, and traveling. In particular, I’m a fan of Van Gogh’s work and feel like I’ve seen almost all of his works by visiting famous art museums around the world. Perhaps I felt a sense of homogeneity with him. The chaotic mind and love for family seem to be commonalities between him and me.

These days, I’m dreaming of transitioning to a career in data science and I’m studying AI and coding. I think I’ll be able to share more about this journey in the future.

Seoul is a place where many elements are mixed together. On the surface, it is filled with glamorous buildings and cutting-edge facilities, yet it’s also rife with conflict and chaos in various sectors of society.

In the heart of Seoul, there are towering skyscrapers and traditional local markets, along with Western-style buildings interspersed with traditional historical sites like ancient palaces.

Furthermore, Seoul is a metropolitan city, similar to San Francisco or New York, where talent and capital converge. It’s home to upscale restaurants and numerous cultural facilities, offering an abundance of entertainment, sights, and dining options. If you want to experience life in a place where change happens rapidly, I strongly recommend Seoul.

In this dynamic city of Seoul, I enjoy the tranquil view of falling leaves outside a quiet café and walking paths near palaces. Deoksugung and Jeong-dong are my favorite places in Seoul.

I want theSeoulGuys to be a place where many men can freely talk about everything about life, including wellness, men’s worries, frustrations, overcoming challenges, and self-management. I often watch the BBC’s WorkLife channel, and although we live in different countries, I find that our concerns are always similar, and I resonate with it a lot. We may all live in different countries, but I think there will be many concerns that we can empathize with, and we could also help each other.

Through the blog, I hope that even men who are not in the same space can have a good experience of connecting and sharing opinions with each other. I also hope that it will be a place where we can calmly share deep thoughts that we may not be able to feel or express in many recent media outlets, especially those centered on video and images.

I’m planning to organize this blog with Jake, who used to work in a bank with me, And he is also my sincere friend, living his life in Seoul. I believe that the more diverse people share their lives, the richer our blog will be.
